Battery maintenance questions
Yahoo Message Number: 143184
I have been regularly checking the water level in the house batteries and noticed a slight residual level of moisture on the top of the batteries today. When I popped open the caps, I heard gurgling and got concerned. Are either of these symptoms problematic? If relying predominantly on shore power, is the amount of water likely needed going to drop?
Our '99 RB has no solar which might be one of the reasons we were lucky enough to get her. At some point when we buy another coach it will be nice to have solar but since we don't know any different, we're doing fine with without solar.

These are symptoms of overcharging, or batteries going bad, assuming the batteries have already been charged up. The stock converter will overcharge the batteries, so if you are leaving it plugged in, I recommend investing in a replacement converter with a multi-stage charger. A Pro-Fill system will keep the electrolyte level correct with minimal fuss.

Solar is almost essential if you camp for extended stays without hookups - not so much if you always connect to shorepower.
