Satellite TV in rain September 09, 2013, 07:48:50 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142590We run a KVH TracVision A5 satellite TV receiver which always failed at the lightest sprinkle. No longer. There is a new product (paint) on the market that is superhydrophobic. Water beads up and the satellite signal gets through. A TracVision dome is very flat so it doesn't roll off. On a taller dome it would roll off.The product is NeverWet sold by Home Depot on special order for $20. Several videos about the product on YouTube. Not sure how long it will survive UV but it has lasted two weeks, so far, so thought I would mention it. It is not transparent so is not appropriate for windshields. For more info search TracVision A7, NeverWet. Harry 2006 RB

Re: Satellite TV in rain Reply #2 – September 09, 2013, 09:19:10 pm Yahoo Message Number: 142595Worked for me. I am in Silverton, Colorado, where it has rained every afternoon. It rained off and on all day today. Direct TV comes in loud and clear. There are positive and negative reviews on youtube for everyone's information. Previously my receiver signed off in rain, even a very light rain. The A5 dome is very flat. I certainly don't know why it works with beaded water still present. I will be pleasantly surprised if the product is very durable. One review said UV took it out in 24 hours. Sun is out most every morning here till around noon and it still works two weeks later.Should anyone have a rain sensitive dome and try it, please post results. Anyone have an A5 or A7 that works well in rain? Harry No personal or financial involvement with the product.
