Trip East - 10 weeks September 01, 2013, 06:51:58 am Yahoo Message Number: 142406We will head from Minnesota (mostly on I-80) to the Pocono Mountains/Delaware Valley of NE Pennsylvania. (This is a beautiful area only 80 miles from NYC). From there we will go through lower New York State working our way toward New England (Acadia National Park) just to the tip of Maine (Bar Harbor). Then South to Long Island, Cape May County New Jersey, and down to Savannah Georgia.

How do I know this? We live in Maine (about 4 miles from LLBean in Freeport) and generally try to leave for the winter in October (in our LD) and have found the camping pickin's slim as we travel through MA, CT, and NY heading out. While it is absolutely beautiful here in the Fall, finding a spot can sometimes be a challenge. You can boondock in the lower lots of the LLBean "campus" in Freeport, as well as at Cabela's in Scarborough (right off the ME Turnpike), and this summer I've seen RV's in the Walmart lot in Falmouth. If you are in our area, do let me know...we'd love to meet you. The e-mail is: cpratt04097 at yahoo dot com (no spaces).TinaP 2006 MB "Wild Thing"[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Just in case you hit full or closed camps on the southern legs, Assateague Island National Seashore is open year around. The Maryland State Park at Assateague closes on 27 Oct 2013. The parks along the beach tend to stay open south of MD, but check, while the parks in the mountains close for the winter. In South Carolina, I can second Huntington Beach State park. It was suggested to me last winter for my trip north from Florida. It is a stunningly beautiful park. A great spot to bird watch. John
