non RV question

I hope this is ok but I'm looking at purchasing a couple of wheelchairs (want to keep one at the office) due to my recent accident.  Does anyone have any recommendations for manufacturers?  Trying to purchase thru Amazon due to free shipping.

Thanks,

Hi Bill:
I'm sorry to answer a question with questions, but there are several options on wheel chairs that you might need to consider before purchasing or rental.
How long do you anticipate needing it?  Will someone be pushing you or will you self-propel?  Do you have the grip, hand, and/or arm strength to self-propel the wheels? Do you need anti-tip devices in the back? Do you need it to fold? Do you need desk-style arm rests that allow the chair to get nearer a table or desk, vs. standard arm rests. Do the arm rests need to be removable? Do the leg rests need to swing away? Do the leg rests need to elevate? Do the leg rests need to be removable? Do you need foot rests that swing out of the way? Do you need to have custom measurements taken or will an "average fit" work for you? Do you need a special cushion?
If you are in a facility with either OTs, PTs, or Physiatrists available, request a wheel chair prescription from them to help you get what you need.  Make copies of the prescription and send to various medical supply companies and request bids. Go with what works best for you.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery and good luck with the wheel chair.

Thanks Bob - I'm pretty healthy - this was a cycling crash with a resulting fractured pelvis so I will be using the chair for probably two months.  One will need to pull up t

Try swap meets someone usually has and the people usually know right where they are. When my son was buying storage units we had several and always sold same day as put out and usually first thing in am,  they opened at 6am and usually were sold by 6:30 or 7.

Bill,
If you have one in your neighborhood, try a Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
I volunteer at the one in New Braunfels, TX, and we always have several that companies or individuals have donated for resale.
