Is 1974 MB300 the same as a B300?
Yahoo Message Number: 138140
Dear List,

Recently acquired a 1974 Lazy Daze RV.  It is having charging issues and needs a new alternator.
The origian 'delivery' receipt from Lazy Daze identifies it as a 1974 MB300.
However, most part stores don't have parts/alternator listed for an 'MB300' -- Is it the same as a B300?

Thanks!

Andrew

Yes, they are the same. The MB was the cut away version.

Even better than searching by model is to simply shortcut the process by using your VIN. Since you have a '74, I would guess that

Andrew,

It might be easier to just remove the alternator from the rig, take it down to the parts store, and tell them that you need an exact replacement.
Short of that what you really need is the information on the chassis, not the LD itself; manufacturer, model, year, etc.  Having the VIN is also a good idea particularly if the manufacturer made changes during the model year.

I had a similar "alternator matching" problem with an old Chevie and toted in the broken alternator.  The parts man just took the model number off the alternator and looked up the part numbers for replacement units

Doug, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. That is, I would **never** take a part
