So I order the new rig last November...counting down the days until we get to take her out on her maiden trip...then last Wednesday, while riding with our cycling group from work, some guy thinks it would be fun to ride his skateboard right in front of me...my GPS shows I was traveling at 28 mph when I went down.....fractured pelvis.....hospital then nursing home for about two weeks to stay off the leg...then home sleeping on a hospital bed downstairs....so the planned maiden voyage will now take place in July instead of the end of May...the injury is bad enough but having to wait even longer is killing me!!

Hey, Bill! So sorry to hear that your maiden voyage has been postponed.  Here's some wishes from our LD to yours for a swift recovery.
See you out there on the roads in July.  It will be sweeter when the day comes if you have patience; I know, it is hard to hang on a bit longer, but at least you will get plenty of rest for when the day arrives for your trip.

Stay well and see you in July!

Bill,

Oh my, what a mishap but happy to hear you will mend, given time.

Will LD hold your rig at the factory until you're able to travel? If so, it would be nice if someone at LD would take a lot of inside/ outside photos of your new LD to share with you. Or . maybe that would make the wait even harder! J

Know how disappointed you must be.

Any collision on a bike can be bad, and you were going a fairly good rate, though certainly not excessive.  Sorry to hear about your injury, glad it is not worse.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

We think he either pushed me or I hit his deck.  We are almost certain his friends filmed it (done on purpose) so there's a bunch of people watching YouTube and other sites to see if it gets posted.  The police looked for them but I don't think they found them.  I believe he underestimated the force and how fast I was going.  He was somewhere around 16 - 18 years old

I searched utube for "bike skateboard crash"  posted this week and got over 2 million hits.
It'll take a lot of luck to find the right piece of straw in that haystack.

My guys are pretty adept at "social media" stuff since we utilize it quite a bit with regard to targeting and source location; thank god they're way smarter than I am at it!!! :)
