we will be taking delivery of our new LD (30 twin) in May.  This will be our 3rd RV and our first LD.  Having learned many lessons with our prior two we are looking at the viability of indoor storage.  We live in Southern California (Orange County) and I do have the ability at a safe and secure facility...my office which we just constructed..I had it built with 5 RV electrical hook-ups plus a dump station (we use a few Class A's for marketing purposes)...I have found one indoor location and am awaiting a quote..I suspect it will be expensive..but was wondering what others paid and what their experiences were like.  The one I found is called Premier Boat & RV Storage in Corona (http://www.premierindoorstorage.com).

Thanks,

Bill

It truly pains me to disclose this, but we pay $175/mo for an outdoor space in a gated boat & RV storage operation in Marina Del Rey which offers no dumping or washing facilities, just a plot of asphalt.  We live in West L.A. and storage around here is almost nonexistent, so pricing is out of sight.  The OC has much more land available, albeit dwindling daily, so you should be able to do better.  -- Jon ('06 TK "Albatross")

There's a rv storage condo development in Beaumont.  Eucalyptus at Beaumont.  As I recall the condos were a bit over $50K. They were long enough to hold more than the LD.  I'm in south OC and if it were closer I'd consider it.
I've elected outdoor storage (150$) because it is close to my house and I want to use the motorhome often.  I'm afraid if it is tucked away an hour or more away from home I'd not use it for short spontaneous trips.  But past RV experience I do dislike the toll of the UV exposure.  This is one reason I bought the LD, the factory is nearby and can fix issues I can't tackle anymore.

I looked at the Eucalyptus website a bit.  The cheapest unit is about 56K.  It is 50 feet long by about 13 wide. There would be about $560 in annual property tax and about $400 in assoc. fees.
For me I could probably make it pencil out if I shared the unit with a family member who also has a small RV.  Split the yearly costs.  Cheaper than renting two spots in the outdoor storage lot.
I'm not convinced buying an RV storage condo is the best investment.
I can not see a ten year old LD retain a lot more value due to inside storage.  Some, sure, but big difference no.  Ten years old is ten years old.
Again, for me a big deal is access.  I would save quite a bit of washing and cleaning but I doubt it would equal the driving to get to the motorhome.
