A "sitting" rig can deteriorate very quickly; virtually every coach, chassis, and engine component of an unused machine is subject to "time erosion". There is no indication in the ad of how or where this motorhome has been stored, what, if any, maintenance and/or repairs have been done in its lifetime. 8 hours on a 12-year-old generator is not a positive; the fact that the seller (or seller's rep) seems to think that it is indicates to me that the person knows little about motorhomes or is trying to unload the rig at the highest possible price. The asking price is considerably out of line with reality; contary to the language of the , this is *not* a "brand new" motorhome. Plenty of photos, but I didn't see any specifics of any options, add-ons, improvements, etc., in the ad. (Did I miss that?) JMHO, but I'd want to find out a lot more about this rig, the seller, and the reasons that it has essentially lain dormant for 12 years. I don't know anything about the inspection oufit you linked, but, if you are interested in a possible purchase, I suggest having the rig meticulously inspected by a Ford-savvy mechanic *and* an IRV tech. This *may* be an OK deal if the rig is mechanically sound, free of leaks, and all the systems/components work properly, but only if the rig could be had for a reasonable price and if you're prepared to replace tires and anything else that has "gunked or junked" in the 12 years that the rig has been parked. Better (again, IMO; some may not agree) to spend a little up front for professional inspections than find nasty, expensive-to-repair surprises later. As ever, YMMV.Joan

I had a 1992 6 cylinder Toyota Dolphin (National RV); it measured 21'11". As I recall, Winnebago's version(s) of the box they plopped on the Toyota chassis was the same size, and so was the other "box" from a manufacturer who I can't remember! Maybe your Toyota looks so much smaller because it is? ;-)Joan

But maybe it was one of the wine/measure days. Yes mine Is a 89 Americana, like a dolphin, but I think much larger...26 feet. But I will re-measure it when it is a little warmer.
Re: Too good to be True? 2001 in PA Reply #9 – January 18, 2013, 07:20:09 pm Yahoo Message Number: 136285Pat, I think that LD was the subject of the threat that started with post 131530 last June. Copy and past the number in the appropriate search field. Several entries down is a post by Larry that is very much worth reading but all are talking about various concerns about so few miles. Basically a trip from Montclair to PA. The ebay listing in that post has been removed but as I recall that was about a low miles green LD Mid Bath in PA. I do not recall the price but the asking price for an RV that old was also way out of line as it is the current add. The only options I saw for sure were CB and Solar. There may be others it appears to be well documented. Perhaps the original equipment list is in the documents. It appears that someone has redone the floor. That could be good or bad. I remember the post because a year ago on Jan 30 I flew out to CA to buy a Green Mid Bath that I drove home. The one in PA was mostly identical to my 07. Good hunting. The right one is out there. As others have said if this happens to be the one get it checked over by someone you trust.John

You know it needs new tires at a minimum.. It has been talked about on this list before. Be very careful. I live about 90 miles away and won't even bother looking at it...and I want one pretty bad.Garry
Re: Too good to be True? 2001 in PA Reply #11 – January 19, 2013, 06:51:15 am Yahoo Message Number: 136287Thank you SO much all! I had stopped my eBay auto-search for a while and missed this one in the earlier listing - too bad too, as it was just the model I wanted, apart from the price. I guess the old adage is true - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is...Pat Lazy Daze wanna-be...
Re: Too good to be True? 2001 in PA Reply #12 – January 19, 2013, 08:08:07 am Yahoo Message Number: 136288There is no PA inspection sticker on the windshield, meaning it has never been licensed in PA, the PA dealer plate expired 6-12. Very nice looking LD, at least 50% overpriced in my mind. Someone can always make a realistic offer. For $46k, I'd buy one many years newer, even with more miles on it.Eddie
