Draining Fresh Water Tank - Drips Only April 04, 2012, 05:34:58 pm Yahoo Message Number: 129638Hello All, Been a little while since i posted, but i follow along everyday. I have a question regarding draining the fresh water tank on my 1984 FL. I need to replace the water pump (bought a Revolution), but before installing, the tank should be drained. I found the valve directly underneath the tank, in the lower most compartment, but when i open it, it only drips out. Is this normal? I expected to see it come gushing out. At this rate, who knows how long it will take to drain my half full tank.Any suggestions would be great!Nick

I'd bet you have something solid (think mineral deposits) plugging the valve. Maybe if you open it and then try to reach up there with something long and thin, like a small screwdriver, you might be able to clear the obstruction.LarryLawrence D. The original on our '83 FL was a gate valve, and it when it developed leaks, I replaced it with a 1/4-turn ball valve, which I highly recommend if you are having problems. With the gate valve fully open, though, you should be able to poke up and dislodge whatever the blockage may be. If you can't, could be the valve screw is stripped, and it isn't really opening.Steve
