Where to from McCall? March 21, 2012, 12:57:11 pm Yahoo Message Number: 129282Hi All, We will be departing McCall, ID on May 31, having finished a few days of camping at Ponderosa State Park there. We'll be in our LD towing our Jeep. We need to be back at our home an hour south of Reno by June 13. Any suggestions about where to go during the intervening two weeks, north, south, east or west, would be appreciated. We've been through or to most of the possibilities before but this group has a good record of coming up with something new or emphasizing where to go again. I'm already thinking about the Selkirk Loop mentioned above. Thanks in advance for any ideas.Terry2003 26.5'RB Gardnerville, NV

The next week Weiser, Idaho hosts the for the 59th time the national old time fiddlers contest. Located between McCall and Reno. Third week in June. A week of fun fiddle music and they also have about 40 blue grass bands.David in Spokane, WashingtonQuote__ From: tlburnes no_reply@yahoogroups.com> To: lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 9:57 AM Subject: [LD] Where to from McCall?Hi All, We will be departing McCall, ID on May 31, having finished a few days of camping at Ponderosa State Park there. This page from the Clearwater NF website's visitors' info page (http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/clearwater/VisitorInfo/visinfo.htm) gives a good overview: http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/clearwater/VisitorInfo/Assets/pdfs/hwy12_corridor.pdfWilderness Gateway is a very nice campground (check the URLs above for open loops when you might be there), and it's just about a mile and a half from the "don't miss" Lochsa Historic Ranger Station.Joan

I've traveled that road, east to west, twice and stayed at Wilderness Gateway both times. The road and the campground are both fabulous!Steve S. Lazy Bones & Jiggs

And as long as you are there, why not go another 60 miles down the road to Sun Valley, ID. Lot's to see and do

I think we're going to take your advice and head north from McCall over Lolo Pass to Missoula and then south to Stanley and then Boise on the way home. Should be a nice leisurely loop around and through the mountains of Idaho at a beautiful time of year.Terry2003 26.5'RB Gardnerville, NV

Their Travelers' Rest is a state historical site at Lolo. It's just south of the hwy 12 junction on the west side of (I think it's) 93. If you're lucky the gate will be open. The Corps of Discovery spent a few days there before their difficult trek over the Bitterroots. The trees around the old campsite are about 200 years old. The archeologist said "I like to think Seaman might have peed on one of those trees."Cheers John
