Larry had the right idea:

"Why don't you guys add the battery combiner function into your wiring, essentially jumping the isolator for such instances?"

I did the same thing which in my case functions additionally as a battery source selector for my Bigfoot jacks. the battery #1 (engine) and battery #2 (coach) position combines both battery banks for emergencies. See the installation photo link below. For my purpose, I mounted it on the outside rear of the storage box behind the driver's door of my RB.

Mike,

Where did you get the switch?  It looks interesting.

Hi Mike,

I have a switch similar to yours in my “RV junk box” (my repository for parts purchased for “well intentioned projects”, etc.).  I bought it may years ago at West Marine for something I was going to do on our truck camper.  May I please ask a couple of questions about your installation:

1.   Is your switch the “Bat 1 - Bat 2 – Both – Off” type?
2.   Is the output wired only to your levelers?
3.   What size wire did you use for the battery connections?  (My eyeball  guess is 4/0 welding cable or something close.).
4.   In your photo it looks like there are 4 cables going to the switch?
My switch only has three connections and does not have the “ignition control” function.  Does your switch have this function and did you figure out way to use it for something?

I am in process of replacing my Parallax converter with a PowerMax Boondocker 60 amp unit that I bought from Best Converters.  I am not putting it in the same physical location as the old converter occupied.  While I am stirring in the primary DC electrical area I might as well figure out something to do with my switch.

Doug
