Reasonable prices and not too far out.Bob in FL SE 5 30IB AE__ From: Robert Quinn ltcolbobquinn@...> To: "lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com" lifewithalazydazerv@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2012 5:04 PM Subject: Re: [LD] Savannah GA Recommended CampgroundsSkidway Isalnd.__
Re: Savannah GA Recommended Campgrounds Reply #3 – March 16, 2012, 10:56:44 pm Yahoo Message Number: 129175Bob, Thank you so much for your suggestion. After posting, that's the first place I called. They were booked solid throughout the weekend. Luckily the guy that answered the phone told me to check with the Savanna visitors center. Turns out they offer overnight RV parking in the center of the historic district downtown. We paid $15 to get an overnight permit. Not as scenic as Skidaway but it worked for us.There is also a free shuttle that loops the historic district. The best thing is that there is a St. Patrick's celebration this weekend which rivals New York's. We're not the partying types but we still enjoyed the live music and food. We have to leave before the parade tomorrow in order to get to Flagler Beach by noon. The combination of free local transportation and relatively cheap overnight parking made this well worth it. By the way, parking normally costs about $10 for a three-day permit. They raise the prices to $15/night for the St. Patrick's weekend. Next time we visit Savannah I think we will combine one night stay at the visitor center (to take more time to see and learn about the historic district) and a few nights at Skidaway to just relax.Danny
