Leaking water tank

My 01 Mid bath is at it again.  Now the water tank is leaking around the drain pipe. I tried just hand tightening but with limited results.  Is this pipe inserted into the tank with NPT pipe thread?  If so I hope the just removing it and using teflon tape and/or pipe dope will solve the problem.  Any info will be greatly appreciated as usual.  I am in Joshua tree park with limited internet access but will come to town later this week for supples.

Jim, it is possible too that the leak is not at the fitting, but simply using that opening as a point of exit. Best would be to remove access covers over the tank to examine the entire tank for signs of leaks also at water entry and - more likely - at the fitting out to the water pump.

Thanks Steve.  The water seems to foloowing down the drain pipe which leads me to believe it's the fittinEverything is dry by the pump.  I didn't know that there was and access panel.  Where is it and how hard is it to remove.
I'm going to the Home Depot Repair shop (aka the parking lot) and see what io can find out.
Jim, I don't know the mid-bath layout, but LD always designs its coaches to come apart for access. In our FL, removing the lounge couch cushions and slide reveals the couch base - thin plywood attached with a million screws. Remove that, and the water tank is fully exposed. Our outlet fitting to the water pump is easy to see in an outside compartment without all that work, and it did loosen once, leaking some water and allowing air to enter the line to the pump. I have worked on the water inlet area before by pulling the couch, and I have replaced the drain valve before too, which is located in a lower outside compartment under the tank. The fittings all screwed right in, so you could just check to see if they seem a bit loose.

Steve,
Thanks again for your assistance.  I finally left Joshua Tree and went o Yucca Valley Home Depot and removed the drain pipe and valve.  When I got it out there wasn't any sign of pipe dope or teflon on the threads only a ring of silicon at the base of the threads which i thought was not right. So I used teflon tape on the threads and also used silicon at the base again and also replaced the valve.  I tightened evereything up and waited 3 hrs for the silicon to cure and filled the tank and no problems.

Thanks again Steve and Happy Travels.
