Gen Set Noise

I have a 2010, 31'Island Bed model.  As I'm sitting here at Doheny State Beach, I notice the guy next to me is running his Gen Set and it's much quieter.  As a matter of fact, alot quieter!!!
I have the standard Cummings Onan 4000 watt "factory installed", no modifications, Gen Set.  So here is the $100 question...  Is there something I can do, such as insulating the compartment with "what-ever" to help minimize the noise.  Please keep in mind that I don't want to create a "safety condition" all in the name of a quieter gen set.

Any thoughts on this matter would greatly be appreciated...

Thanks a million.

Happy in Doheny.

Mark.

You can get one of these to quiet the exhaust a bit and to vent it upward.

A lot of the noise is from the mechanical parts spinning at 3600 RPM, twice as fast as the older Emerald gensets. You can lay an over-sized piece of thick carpeting, under the generator, to absorb some of the reflected noise. Make sure the muffler and pipe are in good condition, without leaks.
More solar and batteries will reduce or eliminate having to run the generator. How much power do you need at the beach?
