Thank you for permitting me to join you. Allow me to introduce myself. Once upon a time, my wife and I were backpackers. We also tent camped while touring by automobile. Now, we are retired. Backpacking and sleeping in a small tent no longer works for us as it once did when we were younger. We have relocated from New Jersey to Oregon. The West is big and offers much to see. We rented a 31-foot Forester with an island bed for a week and toured the south Oregon coast and Crater Lake. It worked well for us.
With that in mind, I joined this group to lean about the Lazy Daze, which my wife and I are considering acquiring. If we do acquire a Lazy Daze, it will be our first RV.
We are currently thinking of acquiring a 27-foot mid bath or 31-foot twin bed, Lazy Daze. If we buy one, we will decide quickly so as to have it for this coming season.
In addition to lurking here, we have been reading through the searchable archive and Laze Daze companion. We are learning a considerable amount without asking a question. You are a great resource. There is a considerable body of knowledge available here. We are pleased to have found you.

Gerard

My wife and I are relativly new (July 2011) at rving ourselves.  We bought a 2005 LD RK (rear kitchen).  Being a rookie with RV's I really needed some good advice.  I've posted several of my exploites on this forum and without fail have received some priceless advice.  Looking back on it, nobody ever looked down on me for posting some of the most silly questions.  This is a great group of folks.

Wish you well in your future rv adventures.

Gus,
Thanks for the good wishes. I hope you and any passengers survived the rollover without injury. How did the LD survive the rollover?
For a short time, I was monitoring the Born Free group. One person posted that a Born Free rolled over with minimal damage. Another person responded that two LDs rolled over with minimal damage, and one was righted and drove off. It seems as if LD and Born Free make very sturdy RVs.
I am trying to decide between the 27-foot MB and 31-foot TB. From reading the archives, many people that buy these floor plans do so because they want a "private, separate bedroom to allow the other person to stay up late or get up early and eat, watch TV, and use a computer without disturbing the person sleeping. The floor plans also allow some separation and privacy there was a guest. Whichever of the two floor plans are chosen, the owners are very happy with their decisions. Consequently, those emails do not help me with my decision. I need to know why an RV owner, or prospective owner, isnot happy with the floor plan they did not choose.  Would you mind telling me why you did not/would not buy the 31-foot TB or IB?

Gerard

Having previously owned a 37' SOB, the difference in length would not be a deciding factor for me.  The weight capacities could be.  A mid-bath has an occupant and cargo capacity of about 3,000 pounds.  The same for the 31' is about 1,900 pounds.  That's a really big difference in capacity.  More than half a ton!  Depending upon what you plan to haul along with you that may or may not be a deciding factor.

With that said, I would probably still buy the 31' IB simply because of that big, permanent bed.

We own a 06 30foot IB. To help you with the floor plan choice and why we didn't buy others was a few things
1. Cabover beds  May very well be our last coach and as such considered how well we would deal with a cabover bed as we aged. Claustrophobia, was also a concern. And then there is climbing in and out over someone at night.

2. Bathroom  We really liked the Rear Bath for all sorts of freedom to move around as compared to others which are more confining.

3. Kitchen work triangle  Turns out most of the kitchens turn out the same as a unit in their own right. But once it's placed in between living and bedroom spaces. It makes an ergonomic difference.

4. Beds  Twins vs queen.  Huggability or lack thereof vs a little more legroom?  Making a bed every night in a mid bath couch arrangement put us off the MB.

5. Toilet height
Believe it or not. In the new chassis coaches the toilet seems to have gone up on a second story riser. If you are short this could be a problematic foot dangling situation. Because of that we considered used more than new.
In the end when we saw the coach we bought for sale. With a retro fitted custom built mattress and all the trimmings we would have to buy and add on anyway. Well that made up our minds in a hurry.
Hope this helps you Lydia

This is an interesting thread to me too. I decided I liked the RB model on  the 23.5 and 26 ft LD's because the bathroom did not feel clautrophic and the flow of space seemed more open.  But until I read your comments, I never thought about the problem of one person wanting to read or work on the computer while the other went to sleep, my love of having a private space for morning meditation, etc.

I guess one has always to make compromises
