We would like to spend several months in New Mexico this coming summer.
We am open to ideas of where to camp.   We like hot springs and would also need electricity if it is hot due to the fact that we did not get a gen set with our LD.    We are  Good Sam members and are over 65.  We are not on a time schedule .... nice about retirement.
Thanks for any info.   Beth

Best deal in NM is the annual pass which is around $225 - $250 a year.  You can stay free at any of the NM State Parks, which are very nice.  Or for $4 you can get hookups.  If you stay in the Northern NM campgrounds, they are at a high altitude so cooler in the summer.

Hope this helps.

Here's a link to Andy's guide to NM state parks.

Others can correct me on this, but I don't know of any hot springs in the northern part of the state. The ones I'm most familiar with are in Truth or Consequences (which was actually called "Hot Springs" before it changed its name), which is in south central New Mexico, and gets fairly hot in the summer.
I think you'll probably want to stay in the northern, high-altitude parks in summertime--Hyde Memorial, Eagle Nest, Fenton Lake, Sugarite Canyon, Manzano Mountains, Bluewater Lake, Heron Lake, and so on. As Chris pointed out, you'll find my "NM State Parks Pocket Guide" a useful quick reference:

Note: If you click or tap on the "Elev." column heading, the list will be sorted by elevation, making it easy to pick out the higher, cooler parks. And definitely get the annual pass! It pays for itself in three weeks. For more information, click or tap the asterisk icon in my Pocket Guide.

Beth and others, there are lots and lots of New Mexico hot springs, some are roadside and have easy access; others require hiking or are accessible only with an off road vehicle; and there are many upscale Spas, one even has a reasonably priced RV Park (Ojo Caliente).  Some are "bathing suit required," others are "clothing optional."  Two areas I've experienced are:  north of Silver City in the Gila Cliff Dwellings area; and soaking pools (Montezuma Hot Springs) at the United World College plus some riverside boils in that vicinity, Northwest of the town of Las Vegas.

Kate and Andy are the go-to folks for New Mexico information.  Although it appears Andy doesn't "do" hot springs I wonder if he does mud baths!!!!  Have a wonderful Summer in the Land of Enchantment.

As Linda & John said, the New Mexico State Parks is the best deal going.
And, if you stay in the parks in the northern part of the state during the summer, it's unlikely that you'll need A/C...we didn't the summer we spent in the NM State Park system, and we dry camped for free most of the time (after purchasing the $225 non-resident camping permit).

Jemez Falls campground has a nice warm springs you can hike to. It is a pretty challenging hike back up to the campground. This is the same pool you can hike UP to from Battleship Rock

Several years ago we spent about 4 nights in tiny Glenwood, NM at Sundial Springs. It is a small private CG which was run by a very interesting woman named "Shelley," a former corporate plane pilot. Sundial Springs sits on a small butte surrounded by taller mountains and has several hot springs. You can soak in hot springs there (for a small fee).
This is not a drop-in CG...you must call in advance. The road up to the CG is rough, but entirely do-able...we were in our brand-new LD and my sister and her husband were in their 40' SOB and towing.
The price was very modest, full hookups, had a nice laundry and bathroom. No cell, internet or TV reception, but I do recall we spent a delightful Easter evening around a campfire listening to satellite radio and watching the stars.

You can find the CG listed in rvparkreviews.com
