Great write-up (I'm not done reading it yet) but us kids (4 of us) will need to take some of this as our mother gets older -- she's in her 80's and lives alone after my father passed away a few years ago. Thanks for taking the time to write up this -- you're a great writer. I'm also sorry to hear about your father! He sounds like he was a very interesting person!

Many of us are approaching that time when we have to either face this with our families or even ourselves. Your tips at the end are priceless. My sister and I went thru this when my father passed away and we had been preparing for it for several years including taking inventories of everything
