Hi Terry and Happy New Year to you and yours.

I enjoyed your comparison with LD and motorcycle trip.
I have been doing some research the last couple years and am thinking of a Lazy Daze 23.5 front lounge.  I am single so need to look this over carefully to see if a 26.5 might be better.
I also have taken some short trips on my good ole Yamaha XJ750 Midnight Maxim and just love riding for short trips. I had the chance to ride a BMW f650GS and love the all around capabilities of this bike.  I do a lot of photography on the back dirt roads of Montana and BMW does on and off pretty darn well !!!! The Yamaha is not designed with dirt roads in mind.
So putting this all together, I am thinking of a 23.5 LD and take the BMW with me for two month trips in the spring and the fall. LD would be a base of operations.  I still want to ski December - March and do communications on Wild Land Fire June - September.
Retirement is next year, so I am getting close to putting the plan together.

Cheers from Montana.

P.S. Weather was so nice the last week in Montana, I put over 200 miles on the Yamaha.  It does not figure - Motorcycle, Montana, January !

Bill,
We have a 26.5'RB, perfect for the two of us, and we tow a Jeep. But if I was on my own I'd probably choose the 24' FD. It's basically a scaled down version of the RB. And a motorcycle, scooter or something like a Smart Car would be the perfect auxiliary vehicle. Although the 24' is certainly a vehicle that you could travel

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the nice response.  Yep, it takes a bit of time to make the right decision on both the LD and the BMW. As I mentioned the BMW F650GS is my choice for back roads (Dirt)for my photography adventures.
I started this photography hobby when I went to McMurdo Station Antarctic as they had several professionals giving lessons etc.  I also got to work on my days off at McMurdo with the BBC Film Crew (Of Planet Earth Fame) that  was filming a Antarctica Special.  I met Sir David Attenbourgh who did the voice over like Secory Weaver did for the Planet Earth Series..  I got hooked so to say !!
Yes, I have looked into the three point on the back of LD for the BMW and see several options. Again, I will do research.  Several folks have advised me on makes, models, etc...
It is an adventure doing the research.  I am looking forward to the adventure after the adventure.
Basically, my travels will be two months in the spring and then two months in the fall.  I have areas setup in the east ( South Mid North) and three in the West (South North Alaska). I have a data base list of places and things I would like to see and do in each in the spring and then in the fall. So it will take me Six years to cover my fun list !!!!
Cheers and I will post my decsion, pictures, etc when I hit the road.
