Power Issue

Hi all...I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving.
My worry stone is out so I'm looking for some insight.  I've been plugged into shore power since Wednesday; the sun is shining; all systems are working (no blinking lights!); the only possible major drain is the furnace and a little ceramic heater.  I have a three-stage converter; the batteries are full.
The HPV22 is showing a charge rate of 13.46.  My alarm bells are going off because the display on my Link 10 is showing two orange diodes rather than the customary four greens.  The Ah reading is -85.2.
Can anyone here, not shopping on this "Black Friday," tell me what might be going on?

Thanksabunch folks.

So far as I know the readout on the Solar display has nothing whatsoever to do with the charge state of the batteries.
How did you determine that "the batteries are full'? That -85.2Ah reading worries me.
If, as you say, the batteries are full then I might suspect a faulty Link-10. I cannot say from experience, I have the XBM monitor which is not the same.

Lorna,
13.46 would not be an unusual voltage while plugged in.  DO you have the HPV22B that allows you to turn off the solar charging?  What charge current is the HPV22 reporting? What voltage does the Link-10 report?  What is the current amperage into/out-of the battery reported by the Link-10? If you can turn off the solar and disconnect from shore power, what voltage does the Link-10 report?  Has any work been done on the 12V system?  The Link-10 can get out of step with the actual state of the batteries under a few situations.

Steve, first thing I did was check the battery water level -- they took half a squeeze!  Art, no work has been done on the 12V system; mine is an HPV22, not a 22B.  Sun just hid behind a tree --- HPV22:  charging amps, 5.1; array amps, 4.2; battery voltage 13.4.  Link 10: 13.00 volts; 5.2 Amps; -81.0 Ah.
But I now have three green diodes so the worry stone is in wait-and-see mode; now I'm mostly curious.  Thanks to you both for any help understanding this black magic.  I do have an appointment with the esteemed Larry Wade next week, so if you can help me understand what might be going on (if anything), I'll add it to my Larry List -- that would be much appreciated.

Lorna, if you are connected to shorepower, it is hard to see why you would be getting 5.1A from the solar controller. The first thing I do to check for shorepower active is to turn on some function of the roof air - even the fan will not work if shorepower is inactive.
If I misunderstood and you are NOT connected to shorepower, then a charge rate of 5.1A means either your batteries are somewhat discharged, or you are operating some 12V appliances (such as computer), lights, furnace, etc.
Anyway, you may have a bad connection to the Link 10 if your readings vary.

Steve, thanks for "listening."  I am indeed connected to shore power, and appliances all seem to be working, including roof air, computer (hardwired into AC), lights, refer etc.  Shorepower seems to be active.
I will have Larry look into the wiring and connections -- battery and Link 10 readings often do differ.  Three greens are now displayed on the Link 10, and Ah's are now -78.2.  A rat recently built a housing development in my engine compartment.  I thought we had found all the damage, but perhaps there's more, some place else.  Sigh.

Thanks again for the "checklist" Steve.

Lorna, please post what Larry finds wrong with your whatever that is not working.  I still hope to get out his way in Feb or Mar to have a 10 year check up on Horatio. Yes, 10 yrs.  Where has the time gone?
Hi Chris and Art and Steve and Steve,
Larry, who can fix just about anything but the rain, found a loose wire in my converter.  He blames it on the 8.2 earthquakes my rolling home is subjected to every time I merge onto a California highway!!!)  That loose wire and perhaps one to my Link 10 (readings are not dovetailing with the solar controller readings), will most likely be the end of that hand-wringing episode!  Easy peasy. I hope.  The rat damage is just about behind us as well.  Next stop:  resealing the roof.
Yup!  Sound like a ten-year spa treatment would be very much appreciated by Horatio (and its humans).  As to getting out here in Feb. and March, it would be wonderful to see you, Pat and the fur creatures at the Yahoo West shindig Larry and Renee host at Morro Bay...March 23 - 25, 2012.  Start packing!!
