Verizon's new snooping policy (off topic)
Yahoo Message Number: 126016
I was hoping this would turn out to be one of those urban legends like the old "email tax" hoax, but unfortunately it's true: Verizon's new privacy policy *by default* gives them permission to share your location, network settings, and pretty much any other information they can weasel out of your  via your cell phone with their advertisers and "business partners" (i.e., spammers).
Crucially, this includes "the addresses or information in URLs (such as search terms) of websites you visit when you use our wireless service, the location of your device ('Location Information'), and your use of applications and features." That's right: Verizon can record and potentially share every web page you visit when using your cell phone, USB modem, aircard, or MiFi to connect to the internet.
This is a unilateral "opt out" policy change--they have already made the change, and if you do nothing, you've lost your privacy. To say "NO", you need to log into your Verizon account on their website. Look in the upper righthand corner of the overview page, and you'll see under the heading "My Bill" a blue-bordered box that says "Great new ways to manage your privacy!" (Hah!) Click the "Please read" link below it to get to a page where you can turn off the snooping for all your phone numbers.
IMPORTANT: There are three things you need to turn off: "Customer Proprietary Network Information Settings", "Business & Marketing Reports" and "Relevant Mobile Advertising". At least in my experience, you must check the "Don't use" button for each one and then click its "Save Changes" button *separately*. In other words, you must click ALL THREE "Save Changes" buttons, or your changes won't stick.
Sorry to clutter the list with this non-RV-related info, but most RVers I know use Verizon cell phones, and this is such an egregious violation of privacy that I thought folks would want to know about it.

Just changed mine as well.  Had heard about this, but not how to fix it.  Thanks

Thanks Andy!
I was not aable to navigate to the area with your directions but was able to reach the privacy settings by going to my verizon and my profile and view all then scroll to the privacy settings.
Thought this might be helpful to others that may bave trouble geting to the privacy page..

Thanks, Jim.  I couldn't find the location Andy mentioned either.  Specifically, go to MY VERIZON, then MY PROFILE, scroll down to ALERTS AND PREFERENCES and then click on PRIVACY SETTINGS.

As others have already said - but - I will also.  Thanks for the "heads-up".  Had to respond to opt out - same thing I had with Face Book - no longer a member there and now closing all my accounts with BOA.
