Doesn't Ford make a Similar chassis to the discontinued Kodiak? October 09, 2011, 09:35:59 am Yahoo Message Number: 125859Not long ago, LD proudly introduced a new LD based on the Chevy Kodiak chassis only to find it discontinued by Chevy shortly after! Doesn't Ford make a similar chassis to the Kodiak and if so, what is everyone's opinion as to why that wouldn't be a smart choice for LD to continue to make a similar unit to their discontinued Kodiak based unit?Maybe LD's choice should have been Ford from the get go!Ed 94' Red 26.5' MidBath named "Tranquility"

Several years ago, Ford started to produce a heavier duty E series chassis called the E-550. Soon after, Lazy Dazy engineered a 30' version based on that chassis. I think 2 were built before Ford announced that they were canceling production. The only viable platform for a while was the Kodiak chassis. Steve Newton held off for a while and finally gave into requests for a larger chassis and designed a 30' coach on a Kodiak chassis. I know that he put a tremendous amount of effort into designing this coach, only to have this chassis line canceled.I think that getting shot down twice after investing considerable time and money that Steve Newton will be VERY cautious about trying it a third time.Art

Steve did the Kodiak right for boondock camping. We took it to Alaska and boondocked for 2 months with no hookups and it did wonderful with the solar array.
