Yahoo West GTG March 10-13, 2011 Morro Bay State Park
Yahoo Message Number: 118882
Once again, the Yahoo West Board of Advisers is proud to announce the weekend of March 10-13, 2011 as the Spring 2011 Yahoo West GTG.
We will be returning to Morro Bay State Park in Morro Bay, Ca.
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=594>

Reservations are necessary and can be made through ReserveAmerica.
Their website shows a nearly empty campground so now is the time to make your reservation.
http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/Morro_Bay_Sp/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=CA&parkId=120059&pstate=CA>
Morro Bay SP is one of the State Park's system most popular parks and fills quickly so if you are interested in coming, do it now! ReserveAmerica allows you to reserve particular sites, rather than picking a site out when you arrive.
We prefer the loop containing dry camping sites 86-106 due their larger sites and recent reconstruction.
My wife and I have reserved site # 92 so try to get a site in the general area.
Campground Map
http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/map_of_Morro_Bay_Sp/r/campgroundMap.do?pag\e=map&search=site&contractCode=CA&parkId=120059&topTabIndex=CampingSpot>
Electrical and water hookups are available in sites 1-30, if you need them. The hookup area is small and few sites remain, as of today, so if you must have electrical, make your reservation now.

The Morro Bay area has a world of things to do ranging from walking and shopping to wine tasting and kayaking in the bay.
Bird watchers will be awarded with sightings of dozens of varieties.
There is a nice, moderately priced restaurant, The Bayside Café, located on site at the State Park Marina and over looks the bay. It is located just a couple minutes walk from the campground and is a good place for both lunch and dinner.
Plan on happy hour each night and a potluck on Friday and Saturday nights.

All LDs are welcome.
If you have questions, just ask See you there.

Reserve America's site is a little tricky to navigate.
Go here.
http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/Morro_Bay_Sp/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=CA&parkId=120059&pstate=CA>
On the middle-left side, fill in the  "Arrival date"- March 10, 2011 Indicate "Length of stay"- 3 days Click "Search Campsites" You can use this list or better still Click "Campground map" and look for blue (available) sites between the numbers of 101 and 117. All of the red (reserved) sites, in the area, have been taken by other members of the LD group.

We have 15 site reserved at this time.

Hi Larry, We (wife and I) would like to join your March 10-13 get together as well.  Should we go directly to the park for res or make them through you? We'll be traveling from Anza Borrego State Park where we intend to spend Jan-Feb period to escape the winter rains of Oregon.
Thanks for your help.

My wife and I just returned from a week in Morro Bay.
With the substantial rains the central coast has received in the last few months, the whole area is glowing with green. It will be an incredible spring.
We were very happy with the thousands of birds we saw and the kayaking was as good as ever.
For the first time, we saw dolphins feeding inside the bay, along with the resident pod of around ten sea otters.
We found another observation point that should please the serious bird watchers so bring your big camera lenses and spotting scopes.
Campsites for the March GTG are filling so don't wait too long if you are interested in attending. We now have about 22 rigs registered.
If you have reserved a site and have not notified me, please do so.

Next week is our annual Yahoo West GTG at Morro Bay.
Many did not contact me directly, so I'm posting this schedule once here to make sure everyone see it. If you have questions, please email me at my yahoo address.

Thursday,  March 10     Free day    Dinner on your own.
We will arrive in the evening, after work.
Friday,    March 11   Free day    Happy hour at 5:00pm        Potluck at 6:00pm
Saturday,  March 12   Free morning, afternoon LD activities- see below      Happy hour 5:00pm        Potluck at 6:00pm
Saturday afternoon, at 1:00pm, we will have an "All things LD" gathering Joan Taylor will give one of her famous "girls-only"  LD walk-around in which she will talk about the basic systems and how they work. An excellent introduction to your LD's secret life.
Some of this groups experienced  LD specialists will be available for questions and whatever else we come up with pertaining to LDs.  I'm open to ideas.
LD owners love to tour other LDs to see how they are set up and what enhancements have been done so consider opening up your LD for visits...after washing the breakfast dishes.

Please make sure to bring folding chairs and fire wood.
Folding tables and lanterns are appreciated.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are on leashes and are well behaved. State Park regulations are in effect.

Morro Bay and vicinity is a wonderful place with activities for everyone. Spring will be in full bloom so plan on getting out and enjoying it. It has been a wet winter, to make sure it does not rain, bring your rain gear.
Saturday, Morro Bay will be hosting the 2nd Annual Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook Off and Beer Fest.   Bring your Tums and have lunch!
http://morrobay.org/cm/Calendar/ChiliCookOff2011.html>
Hiking from the campground will lead you to peaks, bird watching and into town..
Next to the campground is the State Park marina which contains a kayak rental stand, the Natural History Museum and the Bay Cafe, a good place for lunch or dinner (it was a favorite of Jack Lalanne) http://www.slostateparks.com/natural_history_museum/default.asp Your campground pass grants free admission to the museum.
http://morrobaysbest.com/dining/bayside_cafe.htm The bay itself is my main attraction and I plan on getting the kayak out on the water.
In town, the Embarcadero has many shops and restaurants to explore as well as great views to enjoy.

With a toad, you can explore nearby spots including Los Osos, Morro Rock and Montana De Oro State Park.
