Front Corner Cap repair

I just noticed a crack on the passenger side corner cap. It is about 10" up from the bottom and is pretty much straight line horizontal traveling a bit around the curve and across the flat front face.

I suspect something hit near the area while driving.
If I recall these are more cosmetic and hopefully don't represent a way for water to intrude, is that correct?
Cosmetically, what would be the best way to seal? Something paint will adhere to?

If it is just a crack, use a little white polyurethane sealant to fill it, after cleaning it well with rubbing alcohol.

A small strip of Eternabond tape will also do the job.
The factory does a good job of sealing things but why take chances. Their application of sealant may not always be perfect.

If the cap is lifting, then more involved fixes may be in order.
Photos are always helpful.

"Can you paint Eternabond?"

Dale

Sure, you can paint it but will it stick? I don't know.

You might want to try a paint specifically made for plastic.
You can apply a short piece of Eternabond tape to a board and then painting it, to see what happens.

Better yet, call the Ebond factory and ask!
