Cooking rice in thermal cooker October 18, 2010, 08:21:54 pm Yahoo Message Number: 117621Seems like a thermal cooker should be perfect for cooking rice but so far I have turned two batches into mush. Has anyone successfully cooked rice in theirs? If so, how long? Thanks, Patti

Has anyone successfully cooked rice in theirs? If so, how long? Thanks, Patti Patti, I make rice, cereal, soup or anything that I want to in my thermal cooker. I use 3 cups short grain brown rice and cover it with 1 inch of water. Before I pour water, I roast the rice(cleaned and rinsed) in the pot until the rice is dry. I bring the water to a boil and have the rice slow boil for at least 5 minutes. Then it goes in cooker with towels around it because my cooker has 2 3.5L pots. I leave rice for a minimum of 1 1/2 hrs and up to 4 hours. If you use white rice, follow the directions on package or recipe before putting in cooker. If the rice is overcooked, mushy are you boiling rice for more than 1 minute? How long are you keeping rice in cooker? Probably an hour is long enough. Hope this helps. Susan
