Oven Adjustment - comes on full blast July 27, 2010, 03:58:16 pm Yahoo Message Number: 114795The oven in my 92 MB is original and works, to a point. After the pilot light is lit it warms up and then the burner will ignite as well. There seems to no adjustment, it is either on or off. Is there a way to correct this? An adjustment of some kind or maybe part replacement?

If that's true then you definitely have a problem. However, regardless of what you think you see, you should be able to control the temp. by increasing or decreasing the control knob. Try using an oven thermometer to see if that's true.Steve S. Lazy Bones & Jiggs

Ours does the same thing...the burner is either on or off, but it will manipulate these conditions to keep the temperature steady at whatever level you choose on the big knob.Sonsie

There seems to no adjustment, it is either on or off." Your oven is like a furnace, or almost any thermostat-controlled appliance: it's either on or off. It's not like your stovetop, where you can manually adjust the height of the burner flames. As with your furnace, the oven's thermostat cycles the main burner on and off as needed to maintain the temperature within a given range. Now, if the main burner *never shuts off*, so that the oven temperature just keeps going up and up, you have a problem. This was the case when I bought my old rig, Gertie. The cause was a busted thermostat, probably damaged by cast-iron pots that the previous owner stored in the oven sliding around in transit. (They never baked, so they didn't notice.) I looked into replacing the thermostat, but it didn't appear to be a do-it-yourself job, and I figured by the time I paid the labor to have it done, I might as well the a new stove--so that's what I did. As a bonus, the one I got had almost 5" more interior height, so it probably bakes better than the old one.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
