I also bought a standard tow bar that I want to connect to the Jeep. Can I just mount the brackets to the front bumper by drilling holes and bolting it on or do I need a better way to support the tow bar? I need to have running lights connected also. Are jeeps supplied with a simple plug-in connector that I can pig-tail to the LD, or how is that done? Finally, what is the procedure for preparing the jeep for recreational towing (four down)? Are all 4WD automatic tranny jeeps the same in that you must 1)Shift tranny into Neutral,2)Shift transfer case into Neutral,3)Start engine,4) Shift tranny into Drive and turn off engine? When towing do you then leave key in which position? Dale from Downey.

When towing do you then leave key in which position? Dale from Downey. The '95 would be a YJ model. I believe that there was a vacuum disconnect for the front differential in those. I don't know how that affects flat towing. Best consult the owners manual for flat towing. The stock front bumper is too flimsy to tow with. Either a strong custom bumper that is well tied into the frame, or a towing baseplate like the ones from Blue Ox should be used. You want the tow bar to be as close to level as possible, so a drop/raise receiver might be needed. There are several ways to go about towing lights. The most common is using diodes to keep the Jeep's electrical system isolated. I ended up putting an extra socket/bulb in the taillight housing so the electrical systems stay independent. Some people put manual disconnect hubs in the front wheels for towing purposes. Also, are you planning on an auxiliary brake system?HTH, Art
