Question about storage access
Yahoo Message Number: 112471
We have a 2009 MB and I wonder if we can access the storage under the rear couches by removing the plywood cover over it - obviously I'm not talking about the thicker plywood that the seat foam rests on, but the thinner plywood that appears glued to the 2x4s that form the basic structure of the storage compartment (that seems like it should work fine; however....). Has anyone done this? Has it caused any problems? Does it decrease the stability of the seats when the couches are in the "closed" or pushed in position? What are you thoughts? Thanks.

Ken, I have had the seating area apart in my 02 MB replacing the plywood under the seats that face the inside of the storage compartments. The plywood is screwed into place around the perimeter in two pieces which are easily removed.
The only thing you would have to do is remake the slider/keeper for the center slide to keep the slide affixed to the bed and be sure to add wood on the outside edges to support the seat base. The other problem is that then there is no place for the cushion to rest on when you make your seating into a bed. Maybe slats would work rather than a full piece of plywood (then you could reach down into the compartment from above)? Steve
