removal of vertical valence at dinette window on 26' MB? May 05, 2010, 10:24:47 am Yahoo Message Number: 112369Hi I'm finally getting around to dealing with my pleated blinds(re-stringing) however am unable to get a screw driver in on the right side to remove the "wheel" thing. Can anyone advise me as to how to remove the right-hand vertical valence so I can get in there? Thanks tons, Pat

Reply #1 – May 05, 2010, 01:18:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 112371I just checked my LD, It is impossible to remove the valance, it is screwed to the wall from the outside before the skin is attached. So how do we restring the shades? We pull the shade down to allow access to the phillips screws holding the shade. Then you can drop the shade and restring. Do this in reverse order and you will be finished. Congrats. Hope this helps, Doc P.S. A long screwdriver will be needed.

Your rig is newer than our 2007, I think. Anywho, on ours the valance is removed by locating the hex head screws almost buried in the fabric and removing them with an extension. I use a small power driver.Cheers, Don

Ah, but once you see how much more light comes in, and how much more scenery you can see outside, you may just decide to leave those valances off! :-) On both my rigs, the first thing I did was to remove the valances. It's SO much nicer without all that bulky stuff partially blocking the windows. Just my opinion, of course.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

I have been interested for some time in at least removing the vertical valences on my '02 MB. So far I cannot see where to start. How about some hints/advice on how to?Thanks

It varies from model to model and window to window, but if you poke your head in there with a good bright flashlight, you should be able to see the screws. You'll need en extra-long screwdriver or an extension for your power driver.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
