Interesting Phone Call- LD Prices

We have our 2000 RK for sale, listed in the files and also on several websites. I got a call today from a company in Orange County, CA (area code 714). The gentleman asked me the mileage of the coach, then told me that these generally go for $20,000-$23,000 in good condition. I politely disagreed, but he insisted, and said that his company acted as a sort of wholesaler for LDs (not officially, of course, and he made no representation that they were connected) and bought/sold them all the time, and they had just bought a 1999 model for $20,000 that was in perfect shape. He announced that if I really wanted to sell, I would accept that sort of price. Well, of course, I said "no, thanks" and got off the phone.

I used the handy dandy chart that some gracious person created, establishing a ballpark asking price for LDs of various vintages, to come up with a price, and while I am sure we will do a little dickering, I can't imagine coming down to the above-mentioned figure[s] when we sell.

Has anyone had a similar contact? I can't believe a ten-year-old coach in fine condition with lots of bells and whistles would go so cheap!

Sonsie,
Well of course he's talking wholesale. My guess is that if he's hoping to pay you $20-23K he would be hoping to sell it for upwards of $30K. It's spring and the economy is rebounding a bit. He's hoping you're

Sonsie,

I got a bunch of calls like that last summer when selling our '02 FL.  One guy (looking for a consignment deal) said he had people waiting willing to pay more than my asking price.  So I suggested that he could merely buy mine at my asking price, and flip it for a quick profit.  Gee - he wasn't interested.   Overall, I think I got more calls from guys like that than I did serious buyers.

Good luck.
