Recently purchased a 1988 LAzy Daze - seems the Black Water Tank is
Yahoo Message Number: 110857
Hi
Is there any solution that we can pour into the Black Water tank so the matter inside the tank can liquify and be able to be dumped?  I do not know how long it has been there in the tank.

Thanks

JO

Not sure what you mean by 'plugged'? Nothing comes out when you open the dump valve or is the capacity severally limited or what? Maybe I do not want to know .
Are you sure the black-tank valve is actually opening. The blade can break off the handle, allowing the handle to move in and out without moving the blade. Unbolting the whole valve and replacing it is the solution. If the tank is filled, try doing this at a dump station unless you have some way of pumping the tank out first.
Make sure to take a change of clothes and have the shower ready for use. Lucky you.
An extra valve is a good spare to carry, the valves do break.
If the tank is just suffering from hardened solids, you can break things up using a wand that attaches to a water hose and is stuck down the toilet.

To soften things up and clean the insides of a neglected tank, I suggest the following. Add a cup or two of septic system treatment powder to the tank through the toilet. Get it at Home Depot, Lowes or other hardware store. Then fill the tank up and let it sit for a week or more, longer in cold weather. Give the bacteria and enzymes a chance to work. Take it out for a good drive and then dump. If practical, a second flush using water, laundry detergent, soak and a good drive may help. Either way, a good soaking will help.

Hope some of this is useful.

Years ago we had a problem with our black water tank and it seems to me that we used the water hose by bringing it in the trailer and pouring lots of water in it and flushing.  Also, at one time when the trailer was new we had the problem and it turned out that when they cut the hole in the floor they did not remove that piece and it dropped down and lodged itself over the hole.........Yes, that was quite a job to fix. Good luck to you !

I think we learned it from this site, but after you get the bulk out, fill up the tank most of the way then dump several bags of ice down the toilet and start driving around. We had the sensors always reading 1/2 tank and this scrubbed down the inside.
