I have learned here to use welding cable for it's flexibility rather than ordinary copper cable.

What is the difference between 1 and 1/0 cable?

Don,
1/0 is the same as saying 0 in AWG sizing, 3/0 = 000. Here's two urls to have a quick look at, the first is a converter - just enter the wire gauge an it gives dimensions in inches or?
 http://www.66pacific.com/calculators/wire_calc.aspx

and this one has a table so show AWG sizes from 4/0 (dang big) to 50 (dang small).
