Campground near New York City

This is not from personal observation--anyone who has camped here is invited to comment.
There's a campground at Croton Point, near the Hudson River about an hour north of NYC. Croton-on-Hudson is a stop on the Metro North commuter rail system, with frequent service to historic Grand Central Station. The park is part of the Westchester County park system and can be found on the Web by entering Croton Point Park. There appears to be easy access from US Hwy. 9 at the Croton Point Ave. off-ramp. Be aware that the area north of NYC has "parkways" that present clearance problems for RV's, but I think US 9 is OK. I e-mailed the park office last year and was advised that the park is near the river, but the campsites do not have river views.
