Camping clubs

Hi All
I am new to the site and it's been a long time since I went camping.  I was wondering what the best camping clubs or groups to join would be.  I have heard of Good Sam's - but what clubs/groups would you all recommend?

Thank you for the advice!

Kim

We have been members of Passport America for 5+ years and are very pleased with the membership.  Escapees is also good.  We find that Passport America has the most campgrounds across the country, while Escapees has much fewer.  One thing is that a visit to an Escapee RV park is always like "going home" - a special experience.  Passport America offers 50% off the regular camping cost, and it's a real good deal.  Each year they update what parks are still participating

Escapees is much more than just a camping club.  While they do have their own parks (Co-ops, Rainbow Parks, ERPU), many other RV parks offer discounts to Escapees members...anywhere from 15% to 50%.  Escapees is a total support system for the fulltime and extended time RVer.  And, IMO, their bimonthly magazine is the best RV magazine out there.
However, if all you are looking for is a membership that gives you a discount on RV parks, Passport America is the best of the three 50%-off programs (Happy Camper Club and Camp Club USA being the other two).  Good Sam offers only a 10% discount at participating parks.
You might want to go to PA's, HCC's, and CCUSA's websites and look at the location of their participating parks.  While there is a lot of overlap, some programs have more parks in one particular area that the others, so pick the one that works best for you.  Also look at some of the restrictions that individual parks impose...some have no restrictions, some only allow the discount during the week or during their low period, some allow the discount only for an overnight stay.  Each RV park is free to set whatever restrictions they want, so be sure to read what those restrictions are for the parks in the area where you want to travel (many of the PA parks in Arizona, for example, don't offer the discount during the winter months, particularly January).

You'll need to match your personal travel and RV "camping" style with membership benefits and costs of a particular "club". I suggest that this "match" can be difficult to achieve without giving yourself some time to re-discover how you want to "camp" and travel, and to find out what clubs or groups are out there and whose offerings will be advantageous you.  Ask yourself what you want a membership in a particular "club" to offer you, critically weigh the real-to-you, "quantifiable" benefits (and costs) of membership, and shop carefully before making a decision.
Also ask yourself if any membership that you currently may have offers *duplicate* benefits to one which you might purchase; for example, a Good Sam membership does offer a 10% discount on Good Sam member RV parks, but a AAA, AARP, military (and probably others), will get you the same discount.
