Diesel Engines

Hello All,
I'm new to the LD product line and have lots of questions.  Mainly, does LD offer any diesel engine options on their chassis?  If not, why?

Thanks!

"does LD offer any diesel engine options on their chassis?"
Nope. They did for a few years, but the drawbacks were such that very few buyers (reportedly about 1%) chose that option, so they dropped the diesels quite a while back.
If you click on the "Files" link (on the left of each page of our website), and open the "FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS" folder, you'll find a document called "Should I buy a diesel LD?" It was written by a very experienced diesel truck owner, and weighs the pros and cons.

Ford no longer offers Diesel in the E350/E450 line-up.

No diesel.   LD used to offer one several years ago, but the bottom line was that very few folks were interested.  There is additional information

I wanted a diesel when I bought my 2003 MB new. At that time the torque on the gas motor was the same as on the diesel, 425 ft/pds. I allowed myself to be talked out of going with the diesel since the benefit "more power" was not there. I was also looking for reliability (300,000 miles?), but decided that for $5000 I could replace an engine and not have to worry about being forced to use a propane generator (propane replaced gas on the diesel engine). I assume that the diesel would have helped me over the Rockies when wandering west.
The funny thing is I only have 17,000 miles on my 2003 - things happened that has kept me busy (good things and my choice). Best laid plans....
