Interesting interaction between solar controller and charge monitor.
Yahoo Message Number: 109935
Just a note from my experience after having used our recently installed Xantrex LinkLITE charge monitor with our old solar charge controller. The charge controller is the very simple shunt type, charging up to 14.3V, then switching the charge OFF until voltage drops back down to 13.6V. This is not what the LinkLITE expects to see - to determine when a full charge has been reached, it requires the charge controller to hold a steady 13.6V. As a result, it reports a falling charge over time on the batteries, down to 88% or so, even though this is not the case. It also prevents the LinkLITE from doing an auto-calibration, so I need to do it manually, frequently.
Although most folks here use a more sophisticated charge controller that is multi-stage and would not have the issue, I post this for the few that have older installations and might face this problem.
