Heat Strip

I guess we're in the minority re the effectiveness of the heat strip.
 Having long heard how ineffective they were, I admit that until about 3 months ago we had turned ours on maybe one time.  Then, since the weather has been cold no matter how far south we go, one day we decided to turn it on.
 I find that if you use a small electric heater in combination with the strip, it really works quite well.  It is noisy but not as bad as the furnace cycling off and on.
 It does take a while to get up to speed, but that doesn't bother me a lot.  It's now 36 outside.  When I got up an hour ago, it was 52 in the rig (the little electric heater runs all night).  Now, with the little heater plus the heat strip, we're up to 66 and climbing.

Since we've been plugged in with power, it's been a big help.
As Joan always says, YMMV, but in the 30 foot I'd have to say the heat strips been doing a great job.

Maybe it just needs another source of heat to work well?

I think your correcet on that Kate. My hope is that the new units with the heat pumps will eliminate the need to carry an electric heater and setting it up in the coach somewhere. I'm the guy that will trip over the cord right after I've told everyone to watch out for it. Of course on my way down to the ground I'm grabbing everything in site trying to break my fall only to end up on the floor with all the stuff on top of me!
