I've got a couple of in-line RV water filters (Culligan & TastePure) that I used a few times last summer when filling the water tank, and I have kept them (capped) in the refrigerator since then.  Should I toss them are are the good to use again?  The Culligan site doesn't speak to this question.

I'd guess they are probably still good--keeping water filters in the fridge between uses is always a smart idea. But if you want to be sure, just hook 'em up and run a little water through them into a glass. If there's anything growing in there, you'll smell it. If not, go ahead and use them.

Chris,
I've had no problem reusing filters after short period of use, by storing them open so they can completely dry out. This is with the larger cartridge type filters, so the media is exposed and will dry out readily. Not sure I'd be willing to reuse your wet-stored filter, as bacteria and bad things can grow in the fridge.
If it's a pre-filter or sediment type, then you can sanitize it with a bit of chlorine bleach mixed in some water. Don't think this will work with an activated carbon filter as it will remove the chlorine to prevent it from reaching the whole filter.

I use an inline filter, one per "season", from the RV Water Filter Store that is advertised as having "bacteriostatic" properties:
 http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/WCInLineFilters.htm

However, I don't drink or cook with the "tank water"; if I did, I would have a different, and far more "agressive", filter set-up to handle the *great variances* in water quality wherever one fills the tank (or hooks up). You might want to check out the RV Water Filter Store; I have found their products, advice, and knowledge to be very good, and Rick answers emailed questions promptly.

Andy, Bumper, Joan, Pat -- thanks for your comments.  We don't drink or cook with tank water either and use these filters to stop sediment and whatever "bugs" they will kill/trap.  So I think I'll see if they pass the sniff test and flush them and then reuse on our trip.
