While there is a Mac version of ScanSnap, it is *not* compatible with the latest Mac OS (10.6... i.e., "Snow Leopard"). Apparently it will more-or-less "work" but most of the features that make this an attractive product will not work. The ScanSnap site says they are working on it.
Too bad. I would buy this, but it's got to be Mac-functional.  David"
I understand completely, I'm totally Mac since the mid 80s.  Just so you know, there is a driver for Snow Leopard, it can be found here

This really is a fine scanner, and as I said before, well worth the $ in my opinion.

"Perhaps I'm a closet Luddite, but if I were to buy a used Lazy Daze, I'd sure as heck want the original LD manual, as well as the original documents for all the appliances, chassis manufacturer, and any add- ons like solar panels, controllers, etc. Scanned copies on a disk just wouldn't cut it. I understand the desire to eliminate extra paper, but not in this case.

Sharon,

I think that there are some people who would really prefer paper to scanned copies, and I thought of that, but decided it wouldn't be a factor for us.

Were we ever to sell Cholula Red, and the fact that we had no hard copy manuals would be a dealbreaker, then it would have to be a dealbreaker.  I look around this rig and we have SO many electrical, computer type add-ons, I would hope that whoever bought it would be comfortable with the electronic documentation.  If not, so be it.

I'm trying really hard to break myself of the "keep every piece of paper " syndrome which has plagued me my whole life, and I'm comfortable with the idea of, if the need arose, I could always print them out again.
One other thing about receipts for add ons, in scanning many of them I noticed that they were deteriorating as to be almost unreadable.
After scanning, I enhanced them so all the information is now clear and readable, so for me, that is a plus.
I also thought I might add that I back up my computer regularly, and also put a copy of the manuals on my server.  Then to be extra sure, I burned the whole folder to a cd and sent one to a friend for safekeeping.

You know what the first rule of Rving is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a rig to the road you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

So, give the new owner a thumb drive with all the scanned manuals on it.
I'd certainly accept that in lieu of the paper manuals.  Of course, YMMV.

;^) Yes, my mileage would vary. My husband, on the other hand, would be perfectly comfortable with a thumb drive or CD version.

I'm an Apple user and have had a Fijitsu Document Fed Scanner for years! When I first saw this scanner (saw a similar version being used in the property appraisers office which they used to record real estate documents into their database) I started to see visions of "Sugar Plums" in my head! WOW! Finally, a paperless Office I thought! And getting a Fujitsu scanner has done just that for me! I absolutely love it! Paper, over the years, has not been a friend of mine either!
To add something else that is as convenient if not even more so, my new iPhone now handles my Internet business, able to take credit card payments (Can even buy a credit card scanner that attaches right onto the iPhone) and automatically sends invoices to customers who purchase, right from my iPhone at the same time, another big time saver allowing me Total Freedom... WOW!
Some people are still comfortable with buggy whips while others prefer to drive a new fangled automobile, it's all ok, just personal preferences! Some of us still like the authentic sound of vinyl over the empty too perfect sound of digital... It's all just personal choice!

Taking this a step further, a small 10 Gig flash drive shoud be installed by the factory on all vehicles mfr'd for the mandatory keeping of service records!
While factory dealerships do keep such records, if, for example, a timing belt is changed at a local garage in lieu of a dealership, the next owner has no idea if a required maintenance (timing belt change for example) has been preformed! Making the keeping of all service records on a small jump drive built into every vehicle would make this important information always available to service personel and future owners!
The added cost would be negligible and the huge increase in the Mgr'g of these flash drives might even drive the current prices of these storage devices down even lower!!

WOW! You better make a patent application on that one before someone else beats you to it.

I started scanning my paper work into PDFs a few years ago.
Now I just take "pictures".  I am taking pics of my favorite books and important pater work and put all the pics in folders and use ACDsee photo editor to view them.
I just hit a couple keys to change pages and zoom.  No text find.
I found it much faster than scanning.  I go outside in the shade for the light.
With todays cameras it is easy to do.
