Pro-Fill Battery Watering System

Hi All,
What is the current opinion of the Pro-Fill battery watering system?
I purchased one of these when they first came out. I believe it wore out or something and contributed to some over-filling incidents, that led to some minor corrosion and maybe some deterioration of battery performance.

I bought a new one, somewhat different from the old one, at LD recently but haven't yet installed it. Should I?

I purchased and installed mine at least 4 years ago and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. Can't speak to the more recent ones but if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Mine's 4 years old and trouble-free, too.
I suspect that the overfilling problem might be related to  the product's vague instruction to pump until the bulb is "firm," which is quite subjective. A person with strong hands and a notion that "firm" mean rock-hard could put in a lot more water than I do with my notion that "firm" means "not soft." I'd rather play it safe by putting in less water.

Hey Terry, yes, install it. I took my Pro-Fill system off my last RV and put it on the '07 LD.  It has worked well since I bought it.  This summer while the LD was sitting all summer long at Yellowstone and plugged in, I used the system about every other week to insure that the batteries were well watered.  Worked well.

Merry Christmas to you and "Baby"!

Should I? --- Terry, before I went to AGMs, I had a Pro-fill for the T-105s; the thing worked well and was very convenient, but I know that some users had problems with the check valve.  But, those problems (as described) seemed to result in not *enough* water being pumped into the cells; could the overfilling also be a result of a faulty valve allowing too *much* water into each cell?
Also, wasn't there a configuration change in the cell alignment a while back of the T-105s , i.e., instead of a straight line, the cells were located in a slanted/diagonal pattern?  If you had to adapt the Pro-fill to fit this slant cell pattern of the T-105s, could this have had something to do with the overfill problem?  Speculation only, of course!
This photo from the Flow Rite website appears to picture the current product; is this what LD carries?

I'd install the Pro-fill; convenience trumps potential (but infrequent) problems, IMO.

For what it's worth, the last Pro-Fill kit I saw (about a year ago) included extra pieces of flexible tubing in addition to the old-style rigid inline manifolds... so it could accommodate either the straight or staggered style of filler caps.
I agree with the others, Terry: go ahead and install it. As Joan said, the real benefits greatly outweigh any potential drawbacks.

Hi Terry,
My Pro-Fill has worked well for several years - until recently.  I never had a check valve problem.  Several moths ago I tried to pull the battery slide drawer out and it would not budge.  I removed the batteries and got the slide to work aga
