Emergency Exit/Vent Water Problem September 28, 2009, 08:55:21 pm Yahoo Message Number: 106178While camping in a light, vertical (not wind-swept) rain last week I returned from a NE GTG pot-luck supper to find a foot-in-diameter wet spot on my upper bunk Travasack. I saw a slow drip from the forward, passenger-side corner of the vent coming from where the joined edges of the front and pax-side aluminum vent casing meet the corner of the screen frame. Today I climbed up on top and could find no evidence of damage to the vent cover or the seal on the underside. I have no idea how the water was getting in. Can someone who might have experienced this problem suggest how this happened, what type of sealant to use if any and where to apply it?Thanks, Paul NE 50

I've had enough form on there to drip, especially with large temperature differences between the inside and out. I heard it was pretty cold up there. Dave I don't think so, Dave. I watched the slow drip for some time, from only the one place, and the rest of the vent frame was dry. Any ideas on a sealant that will adhere to aluminum? Thanks, Paul NE 50

Dave, You were right! We did some finishing of chili in the rig prior to the potluck dinner and the water vapor must have condensed somewhere in the vent out of sight. I checked the rig a few minutes ago, after twelve hours of steady rain, and all is dry. What a relief! As you might have guessed by now we do little or no cooking in our LD. Live and learn, with a little help from our LD friends! Thanks, Paul NE 50
