I know this is early. We have never attended the gathering around New Years and had a few questions.

When do folks start gathering and where exactly do you meet?

The DVD GTG meets at Sunset Campground, across the street from the Furnace Creek Ranch and Visitor's Center.
Most folks come between Xmas and New Years but some show up earlier and others stay after New Years, it's all up to you.
If you have a portable propane container, fill it and bring it along for running the heaters. It can be cold and windy, so dress warm.
A high clearance or 4X4 toad is suggested if you want to explore the back roads.
Bring your camera!

We're really looking forward to the DVD trip again this year. I hope we have the same perfect weather we had last time.  All rigs are welcome - LD & SOBs. There's plenty of space. Here is some basic info from last December's Caravaner newsletter.

DEATH VALLEY DESPERADOS GOING FOR #12 The Lazy Daze group known as the "Death Valley Desperados" is again planning to be in Death Valley National Park for our 12th New Years get together. Please consider this your personal invitation to join us for a safe and fun New Years party. For your information the group started with three rigs in 1997 and has grown through the years. We meet at Sunset Campground right after Christmas, except for those already there, and stay to ring in the New Year. Anyone is welcome to come and join. The only thing we ask of you is to have FUN and a relaxing time! You can make your own plans or join in with a spur of the moment outing, hiking, 4-wheeling, photo shoots, exploring the valley's wonders, playing games, visiting with new friends, or just sit and watch the sand grow. Each night we share in a massive array of hors d'oeuvres that everyone brings and on one night we have soup potluck that would put any chef to shame and another night we cook hamburgers. Also, there are other meals planned, plus one morning we will have another fantastic breakfast prepared by everyone and sharing. One thing for sure, you won't go hungry and you won't lack for a good time. New Year 's Eve is when we really bring out the food; last year we had twenty feet of tables filled with enough food to feed the entire campground. Everyone brings their own beverage, be it hard or soft and if you would like, bring a bottle of champagne to share New Years Eve.

Hope to see you there for #13! Tanya & Chris San Diego
