Follow-up to fuel pump failure at 40-50k?
Yahoo Message Number: 105508
I reported what Steve Stevens' mechanic had said about the the expectation of a fuel pump failure around 40-50k to the service manager at the local Ford truck service center. I asked him for his candid experience with fuel pump failures with the V-10 engine at approximately that mileage. He answered that in his seven years as a service manager, he could "count on one hand" the number of V-10 fuel pump failures, and that all of those were on vehicles with mileages between 70-100k.

FWIW....

Can you give us the location of this 'local' Ford truck service center?
My initial reaction to the mileage you were quoted might have something to do with area and climate and also the quality of the fuel that had been recently consumed.
