original tow hitch August 23, 2009, 05:59:39 pm Yahoo Message Number: 105182When I had to use a U Haul to pick up my Mother and all her stuff from AZ., I had a hitch fabricator/welder look at the original hitch....he said it would be iffy to pull the u haul, so for the very reasonable sum of $275, I had him replace it with one that is all heavy duty angle iron welded to the main frame.It is rated to handle up to 6000 lbs. so it is more than enough for anything I'll ever pull. IMHO, the piece of mind this gives me is well worth the small cost of having it done RIGHT.
