Re: For those who complain about LD's decor Reply #25 – August 18, 2009, 12:53:56 pm Yahoo Message Number: 105018Quote "At the Grand Caravan, in Cheyenne, there was a MB owned by a couple named Rene (the Gadabout Bohemian) and David... the entire interior had been completely reworked into a gypsy wagon." I've posted a few pictures in an album called "David and Rene's colorful midbath." As I recall, Rene was the prime mover behind this redecoration effort, the most extensive I've ever seen in a Lazy Daze. The rig was David's, however, and when they separated a few years back, he kept it. Unfortunately, I lost touch with them, I don't know what has become of the rig or David and Rene since then. Like Larry, I wouldn't have decorated my own rig this way... but it was a wonderfully warm, rich, and friendly environment that suited them perfectly. If nothing else, it stands as an inspiration, reminding us all that we don't have to put up with plain-vanilla factory decor if we don't want to. All it takes is courage and a paintbrush! :-)Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/ Here I am!! I still read the digests religiously and miss the vagabond life. The Lazy Daze has been sitting in storage for most of the last 2 years while I am doing some computer contracting at the Census Bureau in MD. This is where I worked before I went fulltiming for about 5 years in 2002, and I knew enough people to get back in with the hole in my resume'. I'm just about to the point where my finances and resume' are back in order and I need to figure out what I want to do with the next part of my life ( I'm still only 42; well 43 in a couple weeks! ). A small correction/addition: I started out with a barely used 2002 26.5IB that was great for me and Chopper, my springer spaniel. But when Rene' and her 2 dogs joined me, there was just no room. After ordering a new 2004 National RV Dolphin 34' class A, we refused to take delivery of it because it had numerous flaws. A $4k lesson, but obviously the right decision especially now that they are out of business. We bought the 2000 MB together in 2004 and sold the IB to a nice couple from NY. Rene' was ( is ) a nester of epic proportions, and I gave her free rein to customize the interior. Wow, what was I thinking....? While many of the customizations are nice and make better use of spaces, some of them are not to my taste either. I think I was consulted, but I suppose my opinions weren't all that strong. I haven't changed very much, but then again I haven't used it much since we split and I bought out her side. It was fun to watch peoples' expressions during the open house at the Grand Caravan. We had well over a 100 people come through ( Rene' had a guest book ). Some people were just blown away and loved it, while others had bugged-out eyes and "oh my God" expressions! I plan to take the LD out for her first extended trip in 2 years in September. I am planning on taking 3-4 weeks off from work and traveling down the east coast; visiting some friends and family and getting in some beach time. I still need to replace the 7 year old tires and get an overall checkup, fluid changes, etc. I am sure it will be real hard to come back to this cubicle and the DC area.... it's entirely possibly I might be re-starting the fulltime lifestyle. I've kept my life real simple here so it wouldn't take much! Hopefully I'll see some of you out there again. I'll try to put a few more pictures of the interior in the photos sections.David

LOL at "nester of epic proportions!" I can vividly recall when I first saw Rene's handiwork, IIRC it was at a Northeast group GTG in Burlington. Indeed, it's a very personal work of art. Perhaps you've noticed the recent thread about primer and repainting. In your case, some 100-grit sandpaper must also go on the shopping list. I have all my LD work done by a mechanic in MD, since my daughter moved down there; it's an excuse to stay with her for a while!Joanne (usually) in Boston NE-44

On second thought, based on the Burlington experience, perhaps timed tickets would work better,Joanne
