It looks like i will be full timing by mid-sept. I'm relocating my 89 yr.old Mother back to AZ to live with  family members [her choice--she hates living out here in the Sierra foothills, so far from great grand kids, and other family]. She wants TOWN....grin....and I'm 20 miles from just about everything. ALL my family lives in AZ., sooooo...her wish is my command!

Now I'm in a flurry of getting things set up. I know I will need to figure out mail..I am looking into joining Escapees. Next is relocating my 'permanent residence' to another state...again, thru Escapees if I remember correctly.

Build my portable sat. receiver, and somehow get Dish to let me continue/? my plan on the road with no permanent address except the mail drop.
I've done quite a few short trips, but this is going to be different.
I am pulling my 5x8 enclosed trailer so i can carry more weight and take-along items than the IB can handle.

I am NOT particularly tech savvy, so I am going to try and find somewhere to have the converter for the TV installed, and any wiring needed to use the two TVs w/the sat.
I have extensive saved posts with probably ALL of the above info...if any of you have other suggestions, directions, links, that might be good for me to check out, please share..I greatly appreciate the expertise this 'family' has tucked in it's little wheel wells...grin.
I've still got to pack her and I, decide what to keep in storage and what i can really do without, hire the U haul, and get someone to buy my Subaru Forrester...[can't tow it, and the trailer...oh well]. Then get her, the U haul, and me and my little red RV to AZ. Once there and unloaded...I"M OFF!!!

I wonder, is it too late to sign up for the Balloon Festival??

I doubt it. A quick email to either Teresa Dill or Linda Leach would provide a definte answer   Hope you do make it.  /noel/

Gini, I'm happy to hear that you'll be able to fulltime soon.  It sounds like you have thought through the stuff to get done before you leave.
Before you sell your Forester, though, are you sure about towing the 5x8 enclosed trailer, rather than your Subaru? If you've already traveled towing the trailer, you know the difficulties when it comes to finding a campsite for an RV + a trailer.  If you haven't hauled a trailer behind the LD before, you may want to give it some more thought.  Towing a vehicle gives you a lot more flexibility.  Of course, you'd have more room to haul "stuff" in a trailer, but do you really have to?  Perhaps you've already considered all this, but if not...

Anyway, happy travels!

I have been in Escapees for years.  They are a super organization and you can join for about $70.00 per year and with that comes a great magazine chock full of info. Also you will be entitled to use their parks immediately.

I totally concur!  IMO, Escapees is an organization that all fulltimers and serious RVers should join.

Quote
They have co-op park where any member can stop and camp or dry camp for very little money and and also purchase a lot for year round use.

You don't purchase the lot at one of the Co-ops (i.e., it's not a deeded lot).  All you're doing is purchasing a membership into the co-op which entitles you to the use of a specific lot for as long as you want (you do have to continue to belong to the Escapees).

they also have rainbow parks where travellers can stop to get a couple nights rest off the road.

And don't forget the ERPU lots!  Those you purchase (again, not a deeded lot, it's more like a lease) for a period of 5 years.  If you want to keep the lot after that you can  If you don't want to keep it, you get your money back that you initially paid.
Most of the Escapees parks are along the western and southern tier of states, although they have signed up independent RV parks that will give Escapees a discount...anywhere from 15% to 50%.
If Texas works out for you as a domicile, the Escapees mail forwarding service is second to none.

"Escapees...  are a super organization."
I agree. They are the only group that specifically caters to fulltimers, and they do an outstanding job.
In addition to the advantages others here have mentioned, Escapees offer a widely used mail forwarding service, efficiently run from their Livingston, Texas headquarters, which have one of the country's largest mail sorting facilities. If you choose to become a Texas resident, Escapees will provide you with a fully legal residence address--not just a post office box, which many government organizations and others will not accept as a legal address. I've been using the Escapees mail forwarding service for nearly five years now and have nothing but praise.
Another unique Escapees service is CARE, which provides an affordable assisted-care facility. Costs are kept minimal because unlike a retirement home, CARE lets you live *in your own rig* while a mix of paid and volunteer staffers provide meals, housecleaning, taxi service and other assistance. All of this comes at less than a third the cost of a typical nursing home.
If you're a fulltimer, joining Escapees is one of the smartest things you can do.

Hi there, Yes you are correct.  I mis-spoke when I said you can buy a lot - what I meant is as you said, you can buy the use of a lot.
We have one

What's an ERPU lot?

Cathi, I won't go into it here...I gave a brief explanation in my previous post.  If you want more information, look at the back of the Escapees magazine at the bottom of the page where they list the Rainbow and ERPU parks, or go to the Escapees website and look up ERPU.

Actually you can own a lot at some Escapee parks, just not all of them.  We owned one near Phoenix for twelve years, but sold it about five or six years ago since we never used it.
The ones where you can own your own lot are called Rainbow Parks, and you can see a list of them at:

Some Rainbow parks, but not all of them.  Congress, the one in southern California, and Livingston are Rainbow parks where you actually have a deeded lot.  I'm not sure there are any other Rainbow parks that have deeded lots (the one in Deming, for example, doesn't, although they do have ERPU lots).
However, my initial post had to do with the Co-ops where you do not get a deeded lot, just a membership into the co-op.
