Amen on that comment Brother. Of course this is off topic but sometimes its worthwhile. Loud pipes save lives is the saying and I believe thats true.>
I'd like to chime in too in this off topic thread.
I love motorcycles.  I've been riding since I was 13 yo.  And I agree with you two that loud pipes save lives.
But how loud is too loud.  I think some riders take it too far, far beyond the safety issue.

You can't tar them all with the same brush, Sam. To begin with, the old Onan Emerald generators were fairly noisy (though not nearly as bad as a cheap construction-site generator)... but the new Onan MicroQuiet model, standard in all LDs since 2002, is much quieter than the Emerald.
ANDY!  I do not tar, I do not belittle, and I do not exaggerate.  I was talking about the new MicroQuiet model, not the old one.

And remember, you're comparing your 2,000W Honda to a 4,000W Onan. To be fair, you'd have to double the noise level of your single Honda, because it takes two EU2000i generators to equal the output of a single 4,000W Onan MicroQuiet. I'd be willing to bet that if you actually did the experiment, comparing apples to apples, you'd find the noise levels comparable.

There is nothing to remember.  You need to stop making assumption.  I was comparing an EU3000i against a 4000W MicroQuiet.  It's apple to apple for me, because the EU3000i is more than capable to satisfy all my needs.

OK, but you didn't say that. You said "I don't have an Onan generator, but I have been around them many times to conclude that I will never get one. They are too noisy." That's tarring all Onans with the same brush. If you had said "Even the new MicroQuiet models are too noisy," it would have been different.

3,000W vs. 4,000W? Sounds like apples and oranges to me, or at least apples and pears. ;-)
I don't mean to pick on you, Sam; it's just that I get tired of hearing people throw around broad assertions like "Honda generators are quieter than Onans" (which models? what power ratings?)... claims that really don't mean anything without more specific information.

Seriously, your knowledge is not sufficient to pick on me.

Dear Sam,
One of the things we absolutely, positively don't do on this list is make personal attacks - - period. It's okay to disagree, no problem. But you should not attack another member.
When you denigrated Andy's level of knowledge (whatever that may be), that sounds to me like a personal attack. May I gently suggest that an appology is in order?

bumper,
Unfortunately, you're right.  In spite of the reasons, it was wrong of me to do that.

My apology to you Andy.
