rm 763 refer parts

Just wondering if anybody has info about replacing the clear plastic "drip chute" that catches the condensate from the cooling fins on our "vintage" 3 way dometic. The little woman took it out and stuck it in the closet to make room for more stuff on our outing to the beach the other nite. It went south when I dropped it trying to clean it in the kitchen. I have emailed the factory but being a Sunday I figured I could give a shout out to those in the know.....John in the ol 85'.

John: I purchased that part for my 85 about 6 years ago (prior to buying my 03 MB) at Camping World. They had it in stock. Should be available from any dealer as a special order.

Well, it finally happened to me!? I know in the past, there have?been messages about replacing that plastic latch that holds the house door open.? If I remember correctly, the?postage cost of getting?said part from the mother ship is?far greater than the cost of the part itself.
Has anyone found another source?? Or, is the factory my best bet?? I did go to Jerry's Home Improvement today, but, they recommended that I go to the source.

Thanks in advance for helping this little ole' lady.

Carol, the part from LD will have some putty on it for proper sealing when you receive it.  This will save you from having to buy this when you install.  Personally, I would go with the metal latch that they now use.

Carol, The plastic latches break often. I was aware of this and got 4 spares when I picked up my rig new in 2005. I broke all these and had the factory send me the metal one they now use. It won't ever break. The only problem is that the white paint will wear off over time.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Stan.
I've broken two of the metal ones (forget how many plastic/nylon before that)

We replaced our door latch with a latch like one finds on the compartments. It hold the door open fine, Yes it does not automatically latch, but not a big deal and it also got rid of the large hook that sticks out on the outside when the door is closed.

Wow!? I LIKE that idea.? I'm also betting that the local RV dealer has just what I need in stock.? Did you find that when you removed the large hook, it left an unsightly mark?? Since my rig is a 1995 model, I am wondering if paint will chip during the removal.?
I was ready to call CA for some replacement metal connections, but I think I need to mull this new idea over for awhile.

Many thanks for helping me think outside of the box.

The entry door on my '95 26.5' IB is located just behind the passenger door, just as the RV body widens.?This meant that I would have to attach anything new at the same height that the current system is using.? I found that?I can reach the current latching system without having to resort to standing on something.? This made Sylvia's suggestion a possibility.
With this in mind, I went to see my reliable RV repair/suppy dealership today.?? While waiting my turn with Scott, I 'shopped' the retail area and I found that they carried the broken part that I needed as a complete set, for less than $4 (entire unit was plastic).? Even had one in the off white that I figured that I needed.? When I finally got my turn to speak with Scott, Scott said that he had the part that I needed in the back room and gave it to me at no cost.? It pays to be 'known'.??
I am posting this so those that need said part in the future, will consider their dealerships as another resource.? When I got the free part home, it was an exact fit, with the exception that it had square corners, instead of rounded ones....good enough for me.
