William, mollyb52, Steve, and others - I sure do appreciate your answers. I'm going to be seeing an off-road mechanic in the next week or two with some Jeep stuff, and I'll see what he can come up with.

Thanks to all, Sarah

Was wondering if there is a recommended weight capacity for being on the roof of a (1994) 26.5' MidBath LD??
Also, I have read and liked the idea of placing the anti-skid strips on the areas of the roof where the roof rafters are located as Andy had previously suggested... How does one locate them?? Stud Finder??
I would think placing your weight only where the roof rafters are or laying on the roof for better distribution of weight would be the prudent thing to do...

Thanks,

Ed Klaus

Actually, Larry Wade gets credit for that idea. :-)

"How does one locate them?? Stud Finder?"
An old-fashioned magnetic stud finder only detects nails, so it probably isn't going to work. And a new electronic stud sensor won't work through a metal layer (not even through foil wallpaper, as I learned in my last apartment), so that won't help you on an aluminum roof. The best method is to just feel where the roof flexes least... or thump on it. :-)

There's a layer of plywood under that aluminum, you know. :-) The roof is plenty strong; I don't worry about walking on it.

I asked Steve this same question when I took delivery of my unit at the factory-thinking I might have a few people on the roof for auto races. He said he did not know of the limitiations and told me not to worry about it.
