Tire Pressure Monitor System Reply #25 – June 11, 2009, 09:14:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 103260Ok, final word on the RAV4 tpms. I found a Toyota document, for any who are interested: http://rav4world.com/pdf/2006/tirepres.pdfThere are pressure sensors at each valve stem, which means pressure is NOT inferred from rotational speed. There are also speed sensors on the vehicle, but it is unclear what their function is in this system.Steve

So they *do* run on batteries--I wondered about that. (Thought maybe they were using batteryless RFID technology.) Good for ten years, though, which is pretty decent. Thanks for posting that link, Steve... the details were fascinating. Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
