Bed linens for 27' Rear Bath

We are anxiously awaiting the birth of Phideaux, our new RB LD, due "in early July."  My husband and I will most likely be sleeping on the sofas made up as twin beds.  Neither of us are comfortable in sleeping bags, so I suspect it will be foam mattress pad, bottom sheet, top sheet and blankets for us.  I have questions for those experienced hands who have made such a choice:

1) Do standard twin fitted sheets work on these mattresses, or must I create my own?
2) Does that bottom fitted sheet stay tucked in?
3) Must I strip the bed every morning and remake it before bed, or does putting a throw over the sheets and blankets work for day use?
4) Is there sufficient storage on board to store multiple pillows? (I sleep with a bed pillow, a body pillow, and a small cushion between my ankles)  If not,  I could create shams that match the throw to cover them during the day.

I searched the archives and saw many references to the Travasak, but I am sure that would just end up a wadded mess before the night was over.  I appreciate any input, the more specific the better.

I can understand your reservations, Pat, because I felt the same way initially. However, Carol uses a Hack-sak and and I now use the Travasak. I toss and turn a good bit at times and have no problem with it bunching or twisting up. I really like it and it is extremely convenient compared to the alternatives we considered.
Whichever option you choose, I hope you guys enjoy your new RB as much as we enjoy our 2007.

You can of course suit yourself, but I think you will be removing the bedding and storing it daily. So the convenience of doing that quickly will like bear on your decision, especially

Hi.  We have a rear bath, 2007 and love it.  We use the two twin beds and like the feel of real sheets so that's what we use.  We have foam pads and use a regular twin size fitted bottom sheet.  They stay in place just fine.  I do not strip the bed every day.  I have found I can just fold the top sheets over, blankets too, if we have used them,  and go ahead and push in the bottom( foam pads and all) , put the back  sofa pillow on as usual.  And  we use  quilts I made that double as blankets as throws.  I like the look of the quilts better than the upholstery.
I'm sure any twin size throw or blanket would work.  Much simpler than stripping the beds everyday.    Barbara,  Casa de Sirena ,  Escondido, Ca

Speaking just for myself as I usually have slept on the sofa in our RV's, what I do is use an inflatable camping pad like a Thermarest with a fitted bottom sheet (elastic all around) and a rectangular down sleeping bag over me as a blanket/comforter.  I've looked at Travasaks and the like but my simple arrangement works well for me.

Don't be too rigid, Pat, with the assumption that it's like a sleeping bag.  I pooh-poohed Travasaks for 8 years as unworkable.  Then some wonderful woman insisted that I climb in hers!  They are much wider than a sleeping bag, have sheets, and are quite comfortable.  While I occasionally get some shifting toward wall or aisle, it never slides off or ends up in a ball.  And ease of bed(un)making is a huge plus!

Hi Patricia,
Looks like we will be picking up our beautiful new BluCon just barely a week before you take possession of Phideaux. Fun to anticipate, ain't it? :-)
I'm no RV pro, as others in this group are, but I can tell you that for our previous experience with rented RVs, we bought twin Travasaks and used them very happily. They were comfortable and a total pleasure to sleep in, and once we got the hang of the Velcro tape strips, it was easy to take the sheets out to wash and replace. IMHO, being able to easily switch the top/bottom layer for warmer/cooler nights is a great plus.
Unless you both toss and turn madly during the night, I don't believe you'll find Travasaks turning into a wadded mess. Exactly the opposite, in fact. There's a reason why they are very popular with experienced RVers. Our two well slept-in Travasaks are already packed for shipping to the Mothership.
Have fun planning your maiden voyage, and we'll see you somewhere down the road!
